Obituary of William D. Freeman

FREEMAN , WILLIAM D. SR. Age 70 of Erin , NY passed away on Tuesday June 24 , 2014. Bill was born July 26 , 1943 in Elmira , NY the son of the late William Edgar Freeman and Myrtle Mayo Freeman . He was a Disabled Vietnam War Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Army and The U.S. Navy . Bill was a member and Past Commander in 1985 of The Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post #442 . He also served as Chemung County Commander from 1986-1987 . Bill married his wife , Alberta M. Young Freeman on March 17 , 1967 and they recently celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on March 17 , 2014. Bill was a Bus Driver for The Horseheads Central School for nearly 30 years. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Robert and by his sister Virginia. Bill loved his family and friends aand treasured the time he spent with them. Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife Alberta M. Young Freeman ; daughter : Michele Freeman of Otisville , NY ; son and daughter-in-law ; William D. & Carrie Freeman Jr. of Bryant , Wisconsin ; grandchildren : William D. III , Justin , Michael , Ryan , Trystan , Isabella , and Jonah ; brother David Freeman of Millport , NY ; sister : Ida Jane Paris of Florida ; step mother-in-law : Ruth Young : sister-in-law : Esther Young of Nevada ; several aunts , uncles , nieces , nephews , cousins , and extended family members along with a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Saturday June 28 , 2014 from 2-4 PM. Officers and Members of American Legion Post # 442 will conduct an Memorial Service for their departed comrade following calling hours at 4 PM. Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Freeman following his services at the Funeral Home. Bill will be laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
