Obituary of Carol J. Cau

CAU , CAROL J. (HOWARD) Age 68 of Erin , NY passed away on Wednesday June 3 , 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born December 14 , 1946 in Elmira , NY the daughter of the late Lester E. and Jennie Lovell Howard . Carol was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1964 . She had worked as a secretary for NYSEG at Hickling Station in Corning , NY where she met her future husband . Carol married her husband , Robert G. Cau , on Decemeber 8 , 1968 and they would have celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on December 8 , 2015. Carol was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church of Elmira , The Red Hat Society and enjoyed crocheting and knitting . She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels . In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by her sisters and brother-in-law: Eleanor and Ben Nichols and (Shirley) Pearl and Robert Ennis , her brother and sister-in-law: Eugene and Nilda Howard , her sisters-in-law Marilyn Manwaring and Sharon Ray , and her brothers-in-law Thomas Cau and John Personius. Carol was a loving and devoted wife , mother , and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband Robert G. Cau ; daughters and son-in-law : Jennifer Ruland of Horseheads , NY and Veronica & Kevin Kastenhuber of Horseheads , NY ; son and daughter-in-law : Robert T. & Kimberly Cau of Horseheads , NY ; grandchildren : Jacob Ruland , Abigail Ruland , Nathan Kastenhuber , Halle Kastenhuber , Bobby Cau , and Megan Cau ; sisters : Ella Personius of Horseheads , NY and Donna Howard of Athens , PA ; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law : Beverly & Charles Stellar of Jacksonville , Florida , Ronald & Roberta Estep of Somerset , NY , Fred & Joyce Ray of Alpine , NY , Don & June McMann of Lakeland , Florida ,Patricia Conklin of Horseheads , NY , Clifton Ray of Alpine , NY , and many extended family members ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , many extended family members and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Sunday June 7 , 2015 from 2-5 PM and on Monday June 8 , 2015 from 10-11 AM . Carol's Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11 AM with Pastor Doug Foreman officiating . Carol will be laid to rest in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin , NY following her services.
