Obituary of Donald L. Holton

HOLTON , DONALD L. SR. Age 81 of Elmira , NY passed away on Monday April 4 , 2016 after an extended illness. Donald was born March 18 , 1935 in Gillett , PA the son of the late William and Rosamond Updike Holton . Don married his wife , Kathleen Kimball Holton , on June 26 , 1954 and she pre-deceased him on August 5 , 2009 . He was also pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law and sister and brothers-in-law Gerald and Lula Holton , Harold and Julia "Judy" Holton , Doris Holton Boughton Serviss and Charles "Bud" Serviss and Glen Boughton. Don worked at American LaFrance and retired from Purolator Products in Elmira Heights as a tool and die maker. He was a life member of The Elmira Elks Lodge # 62 and of The Mechanics Club in Montour Falls , NY , Past President of The NYPA Twin Tiers Vintage Car Club , a member of The Model A Club , The Model T Club , and The Antique Automobile Club of America. Mr. Holton was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Elmira , NY for many years. Mr. Holton is survived by his son and daughter-in-law : Donald L. and Kathryn Holton Jr. of Elmira , NY ; granddaughter : Kathryn A. and Joshua Vaughan of Pine City , NY ; grandson : Donald L. "D.J." Holton III and Jessica Waring of Elmira , NY ; great grandsons : Joseph Reid Vaughan , Zane Waring-Wright , and Jason Holton ; sister : Phyllis Myers of Horseheads, NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of friends including his caregivers. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday April 7 , 2016 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 7 , 2016 at St. Patrick's Church in Elmira , NY at 1 PM with the Rev. Walter Wainwright officiating. Don will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Kathleen in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads , NY.
