BURGIO , NORMA G. Age 78 formerly of Corning, NY passed away on Tuesday April 26 , 2016 in Rochester , NY. Norma was born August 17 , 1937 in Rochester , NY the daughter of the late Emil and Amelia Thomas Graus . She married her husband , James L. Burgio , on January 19 , 1957 and he pre-deceased her on September 18 , 2011 after 54 years of marriage. Norma attended classes at Rochester Institute of Technology and also worked there as well as for Xerox Corporation in Rochester , NY . She worked at Thatcher Glass in Elmira Heights , NY and retired as an administrative assistant having worked at The Elmira Correctional Facility and Southport Correctional Facility . Norma was a Communicant , Lector , and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY . She was also a communicant of St. Theodore's Church in Rochester , NY . Norma and Jim enjoyed Polka , Country & Western , and Ballroom Dancing . Norma was a loving and devoted wife , mother , and grandmother who treasured the time she spent with them. Norma is survived by her beloved children : Cindy Burgio & Charlene DeWind of Rochester , NY , Steven & Sandra Burgio of Meshoppen , PA , Brian & Kelli Burgio of Houston , Texas , and Keith & Misty Burgio of Paris , France ; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren ; brother and sister-in law : Robert & Mary Ann Graus of Rochester , NY ; sister and brother-in-law : Joyce & Walter Karkos of Rochester , NY ; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law : Barbara & Claude Graves of Rochester , NY and Robert & Judy Roberts Burgio of Columbia , Maryland ; several nieces , nephews , great nieces , great nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including a special great niece Barbara Thomas and life-long friends Irene Casper , Mary Ann Beikirch , and Irene Pelletier . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Friday April 29 , 2016 from 11 AM - 1PM. Norma's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1PM with Rev. Robert C. MacNamara officiating. Norma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Jim in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads , NY. It was Norma's wish that she be remembered through memorials to The American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.
