Obituary of Mary C. Christofaro

CHRISTOFARO , MARY C. Age 92 of Horseheads , NY passed away after an extended illness . Mary was born October 25 , 1924 in Bronx , NY the daughter of the late John and Frances Bonsignore. She married her husband , Anthony N. Christofaro , in 1948 and he pre-deceased her on December 13 , 2010. Mrs. Christofaro was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY . She was a good cook and made pizzells for her children and family. Mary loved to play scrabble , pinochle , and other card games with her friends and family. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and she knitted an afghan for every one of her grandchildren. Mrs. Christofaro is survived by her loving children John & Darlene Christofaro of Painted Post , NY , Helen & Chris Fuertsch of Greensboro , N.C. , Tina & Jerry Orebaugh of Houston , Texas , and Larry & Sherri Christofaro of Minneapolis , MN ; grandchildren : Elaine Robinette , Valerie Christofaro , Toni Christofaro , Michelle & Devon Jernigan , Christina & Matt Schwegman , Kaylie Orebaugh , Anna Christofaro , and Gina Christofaro ; great grandchildren : Dustyn Jacob (DJ) , Caleb , Deanna , and Lily ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including her caregivers . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Friday November 18 , 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Christopher E. Linsler on Saturday November 19 , 2016 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY . Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Tony in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira , NY following Mass. In lieu of flowers , those wishing may remember Mrs. Christofaro through memorials to The Alzheimer's Association .
