Obituary of Rita M. Pesesky

PESESKY , RITA M. age 89 of Elmira Heights , NY passed away on Monday January 16 , 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born March 6 , 1927 in Morris Run , PA the daughter of the late Edward and Victoria Dominikoski Matreski . She was a graduate of The Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in 1948 and was a Retired Registered Nurse. Rita married her husband Stanley T. "Stosh" Pesesky and he pre-deceased her on September 22 , 1982 . She was also pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters Joseph (Sam) , Richard (Dick) , Anna , Geraldine (Jane) and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as her daughter-in-law Roxanne L. Pesesky . Rita was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights , NY. She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Rita is survived by he loving and devoted sons and daughter: Thomas E. & Mary Pesesky of Horseheads , NY , Margaret & John Babcock of Palatine , Illinois , and Gerald J. Pesesky of Elmira Heights , NY ; daughter-in-law : Elizabeth H. "Betsy" Pesesky of Breesport , NY ; her beloved grandchildren Michael T. Pesesky, Kimberly J. (Brett) Carrick , Andrew S. Pesesky , Sean T. Pesesky , and Jake W. Babcock ; sister : Catherine "Sadie" Beck of Elmira Heights , NY ; brother ; Robert "Feskie" & Ardie Matreski of Blossburg , PA ; brothers-in-law : Carl Pesesky of Horseheads , NY and Walter Belawski of Covington , PA ; sister-in-law : Bernice Pesesky of MA ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and many special friends . The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire Staff at Arnot 4-B , TCU at St. Joseph's , and 3-A at St. Joseph's Hospital . A special Thank You to Dr. Rupik and his staff . It was Mrs. Pesesky's wish that there be no prior calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Rita's Life on Friday January 20 , 2017 at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church 130 Oakwood Avenue Elmira Heights , NY . The Rev. Scott M. Kubinski will be the Celebrant of Mrs. Pesesky's Funeral Mass . Rita will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Stanley "Stosh" Pesesky in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira , NY .
