Obituary of John G. Dunlap

JOHN G. DUNLAP Age 88 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday November 25, 2017. John was born on August 29, 1929 in Akron, Ohio the son of the late Olen and Ethel Swatsworth Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country with the U.S. Army. He married his loving wife Audrey Roe on August 23, 1952 and they recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. He was a retired truck driver for Conway Eastern Express and the Teamsters Union. John was a long-time member and oldest member of the Horseheads Fire Dept. and past President. He was also the past President of the Teamsters #529 for 10 years. Mr. Dunlap was a lifetime member of the Vestal Elks Club, Horseheads Moose Club, Horseheads, Legion and the VFW in Waverly. John was a fan of the Buffalo Bills, enjoyed NASCAR, traveling in his Motorhome and of course trucks. He is pre-deceased by his son-in-law: Kermit "Kurt" Hewes. Mr. Dunlap is survived by his beloved wife Audrey Dunlap; children: Debra Hewes of Lilburn, GA; Michael and Debbie Dunlap of Binghamton, NY; Jacki and Jack Kane of Elmira, NY; grandchildren: Michelle (Robert) Donahue; Jason (Amanda) Hewes; Stephanie (Jason) Michno; Lindsay (Jeff) Covich; Kelsey Dunlap; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jean and Fred Urda; Butch and Bonnie Roe; Bonnie and Dick Stica; many nieces, nephews and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 1-3PM and 6-8PM. Mr. Dunlap's Funeral Services will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 at the Funeral Home at 11AM with the Rev. Rhonda Kouterick Officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be Accorded Mr. Dunlap.
