Obituary of Richard Eugene Benesh

RICHARD E. "DICK" BENESH Age 88 of 344 Chambers Road Horseheads , NY went to be with his Lord on Tuesday November 28 , 2017 surrounded by his loving family . Dick was born December 9 , 1928 in Elmira , NY the son of the late Joseph and Margaret L. Turner Benesh . He grew up 50 feet away from his home on the gentleman farm of his parents Joe and Marg. It was there he learned his life skills of being a "Jack of All Trades" but he especially mastered carpentry and cabinet building . Dick was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class . He married his wife Delores M. "Dory" Russell Benesh on August 20 , 1950 and they recently celebrated their 67thWedding Anniversary . He built his home where he and Dory raised their three boys. To support his family and the farm Dick was life-time member of The Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local # 532 for over 70 years . He was employed by Griffins Contracting and Longwell Contractors prior to going to work for E.M. Pfaff & Son . Dick retired from E.M. Pfaff & Son Cabinet Makers in Horseheads , NY with over 30 years of dedicated craftsmanship and service. Dick love his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. He was a proud member of The Pine Valley Baptist Church . Typical Sunday drives after church were driving by business sites, other churches , and many homes that he built or remodeled . Dick was the epitome of measure twice and cut once as mistakes and anger were seldom witnessed . He was a quiet and gentle man . Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Delores M. "Dory" Russell Benesh ; sons and daughters-in-law : Richard R. & Claire Benesh of Mechanicsburg , PA , Garry & Pam Benesh of Owego , NY , and Tim & Mary Benesh of Beaver Dams , NY ; grandchildren : Shiloh Benesh Johnson & Ian Johnson , Lydia & Michael Zwatty , Garry Benesh Jr. (deceased) , Aaron & Tara Benesh , Lauren Benesh and Amber Benesh ; great grandchildren : Isaac , Noah , and Ezra Johnson , Wyatt and Maverick Zwatty , Alexis, Devin , and Rianna Benesh ; his sister Jo-Ann Comfort pre-deceased him . Dick is also survived by several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Sunday December 3 ,2017 from 1-3 PM . Mr. Benesh's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3 PM. His Pastor Andrew Gable will officiate.
