Obituary of Eliza Christina Powell

Eliza Christina Powell died at her family home of nearly 60 years of natural causes at the age of 94. She was born in Ralplio, PA. She was predeceased by her parents Christ Lambros and Martha Long, Brother George, brother-in-law Walter, husband Richard I. Powell and son George H. She is survived by her big sister Helen Baynes, nieces Winifred and Stacy and nephews Christopher and Mark and Sister-in-law Sally Kube. She leaves sons Richard (Donna Milner) and Robert (Brenda Bates), David, a daughter Lisa (Gerry Hadlock) and daughter-in-law Kathy; Grandchildren Erik (Theresa Darby), Brett (Sarah Madison), Beth (Jen VonNeida), Brian (Joanna Kowalska), Ryan (Beth Congdon) and Great grandchildren Christopher, Megan, Damien, Gavin, and Eva. She graduated from Shamokin High School in Shamokin, PA. Became a welder at American Bridge (USS) in WWII, worked at Eclipse and then Schweizer Aircraft where she met her husband. Subsequently earned a degree in Medical Technology from Corning Community College, then worked until retirement at Coring Inc. She loved to travel (Greece, Hawaii, Washington, Australia). Was an avid reader, played bridge, attended shows at the Clemens Center, loved to garden and was a member of the Elmira Garden Club. Her home was the hub of family get togethers.
