Obituary of Sharon A. Olson

SHARON A. OLSON Age 57 of Horseheads, NY passed away at home on Friday June 1 , 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Sharon was born March 11, 1961 in Toledo , Ohio the daughter of Kenneth and Judith Haeft Schlea . She was a graduate of Belmont High School in Dayton , Ohio. After high school Sharon moved to Orlando where she met the love of her life, Mick, while working at EPCOT at Disney World, where they carried their magic for over 35 years. Sharon was pre-deceased by her father Kenneth Schlea and her father-in-law Carl J. Olson . Sharon's greatest joys were her children and especially her grandchildren Zane and Emma Olson and Addyson Evans. Sharon loved shopping , crafts, walking her Basset Hound "Lady" , spending time with her girlfriends , especially her "BUNCO Biatches" ,and she was ALWAYS "The Life of The Party" . After moving to New York, Sharon was employed by Verizon and The Purple Iris. Sharon is survived by her loving husband Michael J. "Mick" Olson; sons: Michael Joseph (Alexis), Matthew Ryan(Jessica), and Brandon Scott "Bubba"; her grandchildren: Zane and Emma Olson and Addyson Evans ; mother: Judy Hixson; brother: Jeffrey A. Schlea ; mother-in-law: Shirley Olson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard "Rick" Olson, Kerry Olson Harter, and Suzanne (Bart) Piersimoni; nieces and nephews: Derek (Shaunna) Olson , Kendall and Kasey Harter, Zach Bourgeois, and Emily, Ryan, and Brianna Piersimoni ; great nieces and great nephews ; Kaiyden Bourgeois, Adelia , Duke, and Sebastian "Bash" Olson. Sharon was the epitome of strength. We would like to thank everyone who loved, supported , provided meals and prayed for Sharon, Mick, and their sons. We would especially like to thank her army of caregivers Jill, Lora, Jenn, Colleen, Suzie, Carla, Sandy, Linda , and her special family members , her Mom, Suzanne, Kerry, and Kendall. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday June 5, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Higher Hope Church 356 Maple Street Big Flats , NY. Sharon's Services will begin at 7 PM with Pastor Michael Schooley officiating. Private Burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Sharon's Life will be held on Sunday June 10 , 2018 from 1-5 PM at The Horseheads Moose Club 416 West Franklin Street Horseheads , NY . In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that Sharon be remembered through memorial donations to The Josh Palmer Fund P.O. Box 3223 Elmira, NY 14905.
