Obituary of Emma S. Gardner

EMMA S. GARDNER Age 90 of Big Flats , NY passed away on Monday June 4 , 2018 at Elcor Nursing Home. Emma was born August 4 , 1927 in Horseheads , NY the daughter of the late John B. and Genevieve Southard Hartman. She married her husband Gordon Gardner Sr. and he pre-deceased her on September 24 , 1978. Emma was also pre-deceased by her brothers and sister Ted Hartman , Joseph Hartman, Fred Hartman , Bill Hartman , and Jennie E. Comfort. She was retired from Elcor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Horseheads, NY . Emma was a member of The Big Flats Presbyterian Church and The Big Flats American Legion Auxiliary for many years . She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them . Emma is survived by her loving children ; Duane A. & Faye Gardner of Big Flats , NY , Gordon & Sharon Gardner of Horseheads , NY , Jerry & Delia Gardner of Corning , NY , Joyce Pickel of Horseheads , NY , Darlene Cole of Lowman , NY , and Gale Anne & Joseph Sullivan of Elmira , NY ; 11 grandchildren , 17 great grandchildren , and 1 great great grandchild ; long-time companion Jim Keenan ; brothers and sisters : John Hartman of Millport , NY , Lester & Doreen Hartman of Breesport , NY , Ernest & Sheila Hartman of Horseheads , NY , Ruth Radford of Beaver Dams , NY , and Clara & Walter McNeil of Horseheads , Sue (Mrs. Fred) Hartman of Horseheads , NY , Pat (Mrs. Ted) Hartman of Elmira , NY, and Cindy (Mrs. Bill) Hartman of Florida ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday June 7 , 2018 from 6-8 PM . Mrs. Gardner's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 8 PM. Emma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Gordon in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats , NY.
