Obituary of Dorothy E. Charwat

Dorothy Charwat, age 97, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on July 19, 2018 in her apartment in the Crispen Hill section of Appleridge Senior Living. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles J. Charwat, who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Charwat of Horseheads and her son Alan Charwat of Livingston, TN. Dorothy was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and worked in Manhattan. After moving around upstate New York, the family settled in Horseheads. She volunteered at the Horseheads Historical Society until she and Charles retired to Florida. In 2007, Dorothy and Charles moved back to Horseheads. Mom loved people and had a wonderful personality. She loved music, crocheting, was very creative, and enjoyed the times they spent on their boat on Seneca Lake. The family wishes to thank the staff at Crispen Hill and Appleridge Senior Living and also the staff at the Memory Care Unit in Bethany, plus the Community Home Care group. She was well taken care of by the nurses and aides in both places. You have all done a great job. Due to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY.
