Obituary of Thomas A. Abbott

Dr. Thomas A. Abbott Age 62 of Big Flats, NY passed away on Wednesday August 8, 2018. He was born on August 31, 1955 in Elmira, NY the son of Albert C. and Mary Jane Powell Abbott. Tom was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1973, he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Colorado followed by his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry. "Doc" Abbott was a compassionate and inviting professional to all of his patients and his colleagues. He'd smile describing his practice as "Have Scope - Will Travel." Tom loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. He was full of life and lived each day to the fullest. Tom's generosity and sincere love was unmatched. He had so many friendships that he held close to his heart and he will be dearly missed. He was pre-deceased by his father Albert C. Abbott on July 5, 1993 and by his mother Mary Jane Powell Abbott on March 20, 2007. Tom is survived by his loving sons and daughter-in-law: Nicholas and Courtney Abbott of Tallahasee, FL, and Eric Abbott of Durham, N.C.; his grandson Thomas Cole Abbott, and another expected grandchild on the way; sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Don Diesel of Elmira, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael and Patricia Mousaw Abbott of Parksville, NY; Joseph and Brandi Abbott of Raleigh, N.C; former wife and mother of their children Peggy Abbott (Rich) Frisk of Delray Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews (whose love for UT is still felt), cousins and a host of caring friends. A celebratory toast is planned in Tom's honor on Wednesday night at Rosar's Bar and Grill between the hours of 6-7 PM.
