Obituary of Lawrence M. Halpin

HALPIN , LAWRENCE M. Age 88 of Pine Valley , NY passed away on Saturday August 3 , 2013 at Seneca View Nursing Home. Larry was born August 9 , 1924 in Horseheads , NY the son of the late Milton W. and Edna Wilcox Halpin . He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with The U.S. Navy in The Phillipines . Larry married his wife , Phyllis Stow Halpin , on April 6 , 1947 and she pre-deceased him on March 8 , 2007 . He was also pre-deceased by his brother Richard W . Halpin on November 10 , 2009 . Larry was retired from M.W. Halpin and Sons Contracting in Pine Valley, NY . Mr. Halpin was a very active member of The Pine Valley United Methodist Church . Larry loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Larry is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law : Richard L. Halpin of Watertown , NY ; Gary M. and Linda Halpin of Boscobel , Wisconsin ; Patrick T. Halpin of Pine Valley , NY ; grandchildren : Corey & Ronda Halpin of Madison , Wisconsin , Amanda Halpin & David Marin of San Francisco , CA , Kyle Halpin of Dexter , NY , Kelsey Halpin of Dexter , NY ; great grandchildren : Kyra Halpin and Ezra Halpin ; sister-in-law : May Halpin of Pine Valley , NY ; several cousins and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Saturday August 10 , 2013 from 12 - 1:30 PM. Mr. Halpin's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Fred Dyer officiating. Larry will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Phyllis in Pine Valley Cemetery at the conclusion of Services where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Halpin. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Pine Valley United Methodist Church or to aid Alzheimers Research.
