Obituary of Katherine A. Smith
KATHERINE A. "KAE" SMITH AGE 80 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday January 9 , 2019 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center . Kae was born December 30 , 1938 in Elmira , NY the daughter of the late John Hamilton Espey and Mary Elizabeth Baldwin Espey. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy Class of 1956 and enjoyed the 1956 Girls Dinner Group . Kae married her husband , Arthur N. Smith , on July 5 , 1958 and they recently celebrated their 60 th Wedding Anniversary on July 5 , 2018. Kae was a member of The Pine Valley United Methodist Church , Daughters of The American Revolution , and The Horseheads Historical Society . She enjoyed Sewing , Genealogy , and Scrap Booking . Kae owned and operated a costume shop called The Masquerade Shoppe for several years. Kae loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Kae is survived by her loving and devoted husband Arthur N. Smith ; her loving and devoted children : Andrew A. Smith and Jennifer Toti of Norwich , NY , Annette E. and Rev. Jeffrey V. Aiosa of Rochester , NY , and Adam A. and Kiersten Smith of East Greenbush , NY ; her cherished grandchildren: Adrian and Miranda Smith of Horseheads , NY , Aaron Smith of Elmira Heights , NY , Alexis Smith and Anthony Castiglia of North Greenbush , NY, Chelsea Aiosa and Brandon Comden of Rochester,NY , Katherine "Katie" Aiosa of Rochester,NY , Sgt. Austin A. Smith stationed with The U.S. Marine Corps in Jacksonville , NC , Zachary V. Aiosa of Rocherster , NY , Alexander K. Smith of Horseheads,NY , Abigail K. Smith of East Greenbush,NY , Alayna G. Smith of East Greenbush,NY , Michelena Aiosa of Rochester,NY , Ethan Dellert , and Jacob Dellert ; great grandchildren: Aleigha Smith , Brynn Smith, Savannah Smith , Ryann Smith ; brothers and sisters-in-law : David Baldwin Espey and Mollie Espey of Pennsylvania and John Hilton Espey and Pam Espey of Tennessee ; sisters: Mary Elizabeth Espey and Margaret Louise Espey both of Pennsylvania ; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law : Betty Sawyer of Ohio , Geneva Kotze of Bethleham , PA , and Harry Longenbach of Nazareth , PA ; several nieces , nephews , and a host of caring friends ; cousins Sandra Espey Johnson , Suzanne Dickinson , Peggy Stoll , and John Gay and extended her family : Carol (Larry) Crandall of Elmira Heights , NY . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Saturday January 12 , 2019 from 1-4 PM. Kae's Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 PM . Her son-in-law Rev. Jeffrey V. Aiosa and her Pastor Rev. Daniel Burgess will officiate. Kae will be laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira , NY at the convenience of the family.
