Obituary of Catherine D. Saunders

SAUNDERS CATHERINE D. "KAY" Age 86 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Sunday January 19 , 2014 at Bethany Manor. Catherine was born August 13 , 1927 in Brooklyn , NY the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen Maloney. She married her husband Earl R. Saunders who pre-deceased her March 4 , 1985. Catherine was also pre-deceased by her son John R. Saunders on March 14 , 1980 and by her daughter Patricia H. Daniel on November 1 , 2011. Mrs. Saunders was a devout communicant and volunteer of St. Pius The Tenth Church in Van Etten, NY and was presently a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY. Kay was a member of The Red Hat Society . She was a retired employee of Marine Midland Bank in Elmira , NY. Kay loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Catherine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law : Thomas R. & Sandra Saunders of Horseheads , NY ; grandchildren : Thomas R. Saunders Jr . , Shelby , Anthony , Joseph , and Michael Saunders all of Horseheads , NY , Christopher E. & Erin Daniel of Corning , NY, Catherine A. & Eric Byland of Houston , Texas , Lauren M. Daniel of Horseheads , NY ; great granddaughter : Alanna M . Daniel of Horseheads , NY ; sisters: Zita Hardy of San Jose , CA and Anne Pendergast of Brooklyn , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Wednesday January 22 , 2014 from 4-6 PM . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 23 , 2014 at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads , NY at 9:30 AM. Catherine will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and son in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Van Etten, NY at the convenience of the family.
