Obituary of Joyce A. Messino

Joyce A. (Hackett) Messino age 85 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday October 31, 2021. Joyce was born February 2, 1936 the daughter of the late Lucy Pearl Ripley and Ernest Hackett. After marrying her late husband John A. Messino, Joyce was a homemaker and worked part time as a waitress at Lum's restaurant for many years. Joyce will be remembered for her genuine kindness and her contagious laugh. Joyce loved to spend time with her family and always enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband on April 7, 2019 as well as her brothers: Vinnie and Harold Appleby, Ernie J. and Richard Hackett, and her sister Ruth (Appleby) Brooks. Joyce is survived by her children: Diane (Messino) and Jeff Knox of Horseheads, NY; John Jr. and Becky Messino of Elmira Heights, NY; Terry and Laurie Messino of Elmira, NY; and Deborah Moore of Horseheads, NY; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brother: Robert Appleby of Millerton, PA ; several sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joyce's Funeral Service's on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 11 AM at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY with the Rev. John DeSocio Officiating. A gathering will be held immediately following Joyce's Services over at The Horseheads Moose Club, West Franklin Street Horseheads, NY. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Roxanne Johnston and Sandy Hunt for the companionship and care they provided to Joyce.
