Obituary of Jacquelyn Lou Kane
Jacquelyn Lou Kane (Dunlap) age 52 of Elmira, NY passed away on Monday December 27, 2021 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY . Jacki was born January 23, 1969 in Elmira, NY the daughter of John G. and Audrey Roe Dunlap. Jacki was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1987 and was in the Marching Band playing drums . Jacki worked at WQIX Country Radio through High School and then at Artistic Card/ Northeast Data Services for 15 years and at Chemung Canal Bank for 12 years. Her love of country music took her on a musical career playing with Hearts On Fire , Rubin and The San Antones, The Joey Augustine Orchestra, Country Fried , and Donna and The Country Mystics. Jacki married her husband Jack Kane on July 20, 1996 where she played the drums at her wedding reception and they recently celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Jacki also played at The Grand Ole Opry. She even tried out her musical skills being a DJ with her best friend and husband Jack in Double J Sound. Jacki was honored and inducted in The New York State Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000 for being the First Female Country Music Drummer. She was very involved with rescuing animals from Bowling Green, Kentucky where her beloved Border Collie Taryn was brought to her. Jacki was predeceased by her father John G. Dunlap on November 25, 2017 and by her brother-in-law Kermit "Kurt" Hewes on April 20, 2005. Her love of family and friends and her infectious smile was her shining light. Jacki is survived by her beloved husband Jack Kane ; mother: Audrey Dunlap of Horseheads, NY ; sister Debbie Dunlap Hewes in Lilburn, GA ; brother and sister-in-law: Michael and Debbie Dunlap of Binghamton , NY; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends including a very special cousin Patty Crowley. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS,NY on Monday January 3, 2022 from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM. Jacki's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 11 AM with the Rev. Rhonda Kouterick officiating. Jacki will be laid to rest next to her father John in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Jacki through memorials to The Horseheads Community Animal Shelter 150 Wygant Road Horseheads, NY 14845.
