Obituary of Robert L. Stansfield

Robert L. " Bob" Stansfield age 91 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday January 17, 2022. Bob was born September 24 , 1930 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Arthur L. and Florence Miller Stansfield. He was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with The US ARMY having attained the rank of Tech Sergeant. Bob was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received during combat at The Chosin Resevoir in Korea. He married his wife, Cynthia A. Pratt Stansfield, on June 26, 1954 and they would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary this year. Bob was electrician having worked for Jansen Electric in Horseheads when he returned from Korea. He also worked at Purolator-Facet in Elmira Heights , NY . Bob loved bowhunting and he owned and operated Bob's Bowhunting and Sporting Goods in Horseheads, NY for many years. In addition to his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by his brother James L. Stansfield on July 4, 1989, his sister-in-law Angeline M. (Mrs. Jamess L.) Stansfield on June 12, 2010, his sisters Jean Ann Smetanka on May 6, 2019 and Joyce M. Sutliff on March 27, 2020. He loved his family, friends and his country and treasured the time he spent with them. . Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife Cynthia Ann Pratt Stansfield ; sons and daughters-in-law: Mark L. and Trina L. Stansfield of Horseheads, NY and Bart F. and Robin A Stansfield of Breesport, NY ; granddaughter: Valerie A. Stansfield ; great granddaughters : Brooke A. Stansfield and Miranda A. Stansfield ; brother-in-law: Thomas Smetanka of Horseheads, NY ; several nieces, nephews, cousins , and a host of caring friends. Bob will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded at a time to be announced.
