Obituary of Caroline I. Hendershott
HENDERSHOTT , CAROLINE I. (Bonning) Age 94 passed away peacefully on Saturday September 22, 2012. She was predeceased by her father William C. Bonning of Athens, PA, her mother and stepfather, Edith and Howard Hildebrant of Riverside, CA, and her sisters Dorothy Thayer , Florence Bonning , and Teresa Bonning. Caroline is survived by son and daughter- in- law Robert and Shirley Hendershott, Elmira; son and daughter- in-law Scott and Karen Hendershott, Greene, NY. Also surviving are grandsons, Bobby Joe Kelly, Timothy Kelly, Garrett Hendershott, Kurt Hendershott and two great granddaughters and a great grandson. Caroline was close to her nieces, Donna and Katie, and nephews Dennis and Jim, all of Riverside, CA. Caroline was born in Athens, PA and spent her life in Chemung County, NY. During World War II Caroline worked at the defense plant in Elmira Heights. She then went on to a career in sales and interior design. She was employed for many years at Kobacker Furniture store in Elmira and Edgcombs Ethan Allen Carriage House in Elmira and Horseheads. She helped to design and furnish the interior of many homes in the Southern Tier. She was a long time volunteer at Catholic Charities and Salvation Army. She especially enjoyed shopping, sewing and a good margarita. Caroline was blessed with the companionship of special friend Eleanor Covey. She and her family appreciated the wonderful aides from AIM and Family Services who helped her in so many ways; especially Connie and Judy. At Caroline's request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service is planned for October 10, 2012 from 4pm - 5 pm at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY.
