Obituary of David Alan Serfas

David Alan Serfas Age 65 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Friday April15,2022 as the result of an accident. David was born November 21 , 1956 in Elmira, NY the son of Lewis and Lorraine Serfas . He was also pre-deceased by his brothers Roger Serfas and Bill Bailey. David received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Clarkson University. He married his wife, Arminda "Mindy" Johnson Serfas, on October 17, 1980 and they would have celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary this year. David was a Supervisor and Senior Process Controls Engineer for Corning Inc. He was a former Boy Scout Leader . David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Korea at age 19. He continued to serve in many church leadership positions including as Bishop of the Elmira Ward. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mindy Serfas ; his beloved children: Michelle Serfas , Valerie and Jared Ball , Andrew Serfas , and Steven Serfas ; his cherished grandchildren : Laken , Carter , Kaliya , and Makai Ball ; sisters : Theresa (Brian) Hunter and Linda Serfas ; step sisters: Tamie (Sean) Esaias and Paula (Jeff) Cooke ; brother : Stewart Russell ; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law : Alan Johnson , Marcia Sullivan , and Ann and Bill Congdon ; several nieces, nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1060 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Saturday April 23, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. David's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with Bishop Peter Sedlak officiating. David will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. The Family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember David through memorials to The American Diabetes Association.
