Obituary of William D. Hess

William D. "Bill" Hess age 81 of Big Flats, NY passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2022. Bill was born in Buffalo, NY the son of the late William J. and Phyllis Burdzinski Hess. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and received his Master's Degree from Michigan State University. Bill married his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" VanPelt Hess, on October 14, 1961 and they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on October 14, 2021. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and playing Golf. Bill was a former member of The Corning Elks Club and The Corning Lion's Club. He was the retired Executive Director of The Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board for Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Bobbie; his daughters and son: Colleen and Tim Chamberlain of Pine City, NY; Sandy and Jon Hoyt of Painted Post, NY; Arnie and Raquel Hess of Elmira, NY; Karen and Garry Kusch of St. Claire Shores, MI; Natalie Henderson of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Sharayah , Noelle, Christianna, Kayla, Noah, and Jeremiah Chamberlain, Nick Hoyt, Kelly Hoyt, Sam, Maggie, and Emily Henderson, and Avan Hess; great grandson Korin; sister: Dolores and Irv Brown of Hamburg , NY; several nieces, nephews, cousin , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Saturday June 25, 2022 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Mr. Hess's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1 PM with Rev. John DeSocio officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats, NY.
