Obituary of John Charles Peer

John Charles "Chuck" Peer age 65 of Horseheads, NY Our beloved Chuck left this Earth to The Big Fishing Hole in the Sky on Saturday July 23,2022 after an extended illness. He was born on October 1, 1956 in Elmira, NY the son of John Henry Peer and Alice Stakes Peer. Chuck graduated from Horseheads High School in 1974 and went on to work as a machinist at Thomas & Betts , Purolator, and Synthes; retiring in 2014. Chuck loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, swimming, his motorcycle, boating, and baseball. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his Dad, watching football and rooting for his favorite team; The New York Giants. Chuck especially loved sharing stories and a pop with his many friends in Hanover Square . Chuck loved his family very much. especially his soulmate Joyce, his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews . He made a lasting impression on everyone he met, always leaving behind a kind word or gesture. Chuck is survived by his loving companion Joyce Kamas, his sisters Shirley (Peer) Sherman and Dr. Catherine (Peer) Zaffarano and her husband Stephen; sister-in-law Pam Kenney ; step-mother : Regenia Becker; nieces : Stacy Butler and Brittany Brannaka ; nephews : Joshua Squires , Jeremiah Squires, Brian Peer , and John Peters; along with many great nieces, great nephews, cousins , extended family, and close friends. Chuck was pre-deceased by his mother Alice S. Stakes Peer, his father John Henry Peer, his brother Bruce D. Peer, his sister T. Anna Enyeart (Thelma), and his niece Adriane C. (Peer) Edwards. As per Chuck's wishes , there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Chuck's Gravesite Services on Friday August 26, 2022 at 1 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY where he will be laid to rest next to his parents. A Celebration of Chuck's Life will be held at The Horseheads Moose Club, where he was a member, located 416 West Franklin Street Horseheads , NY where he was a member following his services from 3-7 PM. Because of Chuck's love for animals he requested that those wishing donate in his memory please do so through your local animal shelters or The Chemung County Humane Society and Animal Shelter 2435 State Route 352 Elmira, NY 14903.
