Obituary of Shirley W. Verbanic-Cochrane

Shirley W. Verbanic-Cochrane age 91 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday October 30, 2022 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Shirley was born July 10, 1931 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late George and Christina Sears Westlake. She married her husband Donald F. Cochrane on July 1, 1995 and they recently celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary on July 1, 2022. Shirley was a retired teacher with the Horseheads School District and member of The Pine Valley United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Shirley was pre-deceased by her son David G. Verbanic on July 29, 2021 and her daughter-in-law Virginia "Ginny" Verbanic on May 23, 2019 and sister and brother-in-law Margery & Robert Clauson. Above all else, Shirley loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband Donald F. Cochrane; sons and daughters-in-law: Peter Verbanic of Corning , NY; Mark & Pamela Verbanic of Hillsborough, NC; Steven Verbanic of Cohocton, NY ; and Cheryl "Shay" ( Mrs. David) Verbanic of Horseheads, NY; step-children: Terrance Cochrane, Lyndel Geiben, and George Calmus; adored grandchildren: Bob, John, Johnny, Emily, Haley, Jennifer, Rebecca, Michael, and Julia; several great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Shirley's Funeral Services on Sunday November 6, 2022 at 3 PM at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY.
