To the Verbanic family. I was deeply saddened to hear about Peter's passing. Peter was close friends with my dad growing up. As young girls he took my sister and I to flea markets and split his earnings with us. Some would say this is odd. We however were so appreciative as it gave us extra money to do things we normally may not be able to do. He introduced us to Nascar drivers which was so cool. He even had Kyle Petty call my mom after my brother was born (who they named Kyle). I remember he sent a box filled with autographed Kyle Petty merch shortly after. Peter helped teach me to drive, allowing me to use his truck to parallel park many times and with much patience on side streets he knew would be perfect. He at times fed us bringing pizzas, chicken wings, etc. He would make sure my family had christmas trees each year helping to create the best memories during the holiday season. I have so many memories of this man's generosity growing up that I could go on for hours. Truth be told I think there were many who may have found him overly talkative, and boy was he one good story teller. To me he was the most generous and caring man. He was so much more than those things. He only wanted people to listen. I would like to think as I became an adult, I did that for him. I provided that space. Peter and I kept in touch even visiting him in Corning when he fell ill. He would call regularly to tell me that he would be leaving and getting his own place any day. I knew better but again made the time to listen. I am reading this on 1/24/23. Well after his services. I am so very sorry we missed the opportunity to say goodbye. I am hopeful that you, as his family, read this and feel blessed to have had a brother who made such a positive impact on a little girls life. I am in the Human Services field now and feel strongly that his generosity and kindness played a part in that.
