Obituary of Donald G. Blades

BLADES Donald G. Age 95 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Tuesday April 22, 2014. He was born on May 24, 1918 in South Centerville, NY the son of the late J. Edwin and Ruba Turner Blades. Donald married his wife Margaret E. Garrison on November 15, 1941 she pre-deceased him on February 25, 2013 after 71 years of marriage. Mr. Blades was a Registered Nurse , a Registered Nurse, a retired Market Investigator for the NYS Dept. of Agriculture and also workedin the medical department at Dresser Rand in Painted Post after his retirement. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of Hoffman Lodge F and AM in Middletown, NY; Scottish Rite 32nd Degree ,Valley of Corning; a Royal Arch Mason; Life Member and former Patron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 423 of Horseheads-Elmira; and a member of United Commercial Travelers . Don was pre-deceased by his brothers: Frank Blades; Harold Blades; sister: Marjorie Rutkowski ; his daughter Jeanne ; and his loving and devoted wife Margaret. Mr. Blades is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law : Suzanne and Carl H. Blowers of Montour Falls , NY and Elaine and Anthony C. Ciccotti Jr. of Oldsmar , Florida ; granddaughters : Rouletta A. Blowers of Harrisburg , PA and Elizabeth R. Blowers-Nyman and Jay Nyman of Skippack , PA ; grandson : Trey & Kate Ciccotti of Belleair , Florida ; great grandson: Huer Nyman; sister-in-law: Lorraine Blades of Wurtsboro , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Friday April 25, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Officers and members of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge 364 and members of the Horseheads-Elmira Easter Star Chapter 423 will meet at the Funeral Home on Friday at 9PM to conduct a Memorial Service for our departed brother and Patron Donald G. Blades . Mr. Blades Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday April 26, 2014 at 11AM. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
