Don,
Wanted to extend my sympathy to you and your family at the loss of your wife, Anna Mae.
It was a very long time ago that I last saw you. You worked part time at the Arnot with Harry.
You were such a kind man and talked so fondly of your wife.
Sincerely, Linda Balok Bowditch ( one of the nurses in ICU )

Anne Mae, known to me and others as the “Chief”.
She had three main sayings (that I recall):
1) Pay yourself first
2) Educate yourself, they cannot take education away
3) Only pay good interest (e.g. House loan) and only if necessary

Julie, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your Dad and the family at this difficult time. We see our friends more than we see our family. Don and Anne Mae became our church family. Avis and I got very attached to your Mom and Dad. Your Mom was the epitome of a very social person who enjoyed engaging and talking to people. She took a true interest in people and was very sincere when she asked about you and the people in your life. Anne Mae claimed the second from the last pew in church as her pew. I will call the pew members the pew group with your Mom the pew commander. Avis and I were surprised when your Mom invited us to set in “The Pew”. It was an honor to be with her, Don and the other pew members. We always look forward to going to mass on Sunday to see Anna Mae and Don. We would talk and catch up on what transpired since the last time we met. We made a lot of happy memories. Avis and I are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to met and embrace Anna Mae in our journey thru life. She was a fabulous person, sincere, loving, caring. She is not with us but she always will be in our thoughts and prayers.
We know this is a difficult time and at times like this we have always found comfort in the following Irish poem:
May the road rise up to meet me.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Love, Avis & David Olague. Apex, NC

Dearest Don, Julie, Jim and families,
While we are deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved sister, we celebrate her legacy. Anna Mae adored you all. She was so proud of our Irish heritage. I will always remember how smart, loving, generous, and supportive she was to us. I will cherish our memories, especially of our childhood. I loved her with all my heart and she will forever be close to me. May God bless you always.

Dearest Uncle Don, Julie, Jim and family,
We are sending you all of our love and prayers as we celebrate Aunt Anna Mae’s amazing life. As the matriarch of our Lynch family, she represented strong ethics, dedication and love. She was inspirational to me as my godmother. I will cherish the memories we shared in our talks, her beautifully written cards and time together, most especially at Lauren and Kyle’s wedding last year. We will miss her dearly, but always keep her close to our hearts. I can hear her sweet voice now telling us not to grieve, but to stay strong and rejoice in all the goodness and love that surround us. May God bless you always ~
Joanne, Terry, Kathleen Grace and Julianne

Anna Mae Evans ["Mom"] was a exceptional role model and an inspiration to me and my Sister Julie Evans Ord. She had a tremendous work ethic and would always tell you to "do you best." She was truly dedicated to her family and to her Husband Don [Evans] - a partnership that lasted nearly ["70"] years! She will be missed but her "Irish" spirit will live on into eternity. Part of a special "Prayer to Our Blessed Lady" [from the Irish Mother's Prayer book found among Mom's personal effects] states: "O Consoler of the afflicted, do not abandon me at the hour of my death: obtain for me the grace of invoking thee often, that I may expire with thy sweet name, and that of my Divine Son, on my lips . . ." Mom passed away peacefully and with dignity [at Transitions Hospice Home in Raleigh, NC] and I know that she passed with the Sweet Name of Our Blessed Mother and her Son on her lips! God Bless and Rest In Peace Mom! Jim Evans
