Obituary of Rose S. Apgar
Rose "Sis" St. Louis-Apgar age 84 of Troy, NY formerly of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 11,1939 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Oril Edward St. Louis and Crete Meade-St. Louis. Rose was a life-time communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church. She received her Associates Degree in nursing from Corning Community College. Rose was a LPN at Elcor Nursing Home and Bethany Manor for several years. A Gold Star Mother, she was a member of the Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post 442 Auxiliary in Horseheads, NY and served in various leadership positions including Chemung County President, and New York State 6th District President. Rose was a long-time member of the Horseheads Central School District Board of Education, the Greater Southern Tier BOCES Board of Education, and the Horseheads Youth Bureau Board. Rose was pre-deceased by her sons Vernon Cummings and Jeffrey Cummings. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Dorothy St. Louis and by her brother Edward St. Louis and several other close relatives. Rose loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Rose is survived by her loving children: William and Tracy Apgar, Matthew and Pamela Apgar, Darlene and Jessica Apgar, David and Wende Apgar, and Travis and Tonya Apgar; sister and brother-in-law: Mary "Punky" and William Hollenbeck of Florida; brother and sister-in-law: Art and Gloria St. Louis of Florida; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Monday July 24, 2023 from 5-7 PM. Rose's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY. Rose will be laid to rest in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
