Obituary of Martha A. Vonderchek
Martha Ann (Quade) Vonderchek passed away peacefully July 26, 2023 at Steuben Center in Bath, NY with her family by her side. Martha Ann Quade and her twin sister Mary were born October 28, 1941 to Charles and Edna Stanton Quade in Niagara Falls, New York. Her younger years were challenging as her mother died after she and Mary were born. Her Grandma Ashby helped raise the children until their father remarried. The family stayed in Niagara Falls, and as a young woman, Martha came to live in the Corning area where her father had moved. She met and married Richard Vonderchek, and they had three children, Richard, Michael, and Kathi. Martha worked for a time making ammunition boxes for the Vietnam War, and later at Trayer in Elmira. Martha and Dick settled on Veteran Hill after their kids grew up, where she lived until Dick's death in 1999. Martha and Dick loved to take drives and visit family and friends. She enjoyed eating at Woolworth's and Newberry's, listening to Elvis, drinking a good cup of coffee, and visiting her siblings John, Fran, Lois, Peggy, and Carol, with a yearly trip to visit her twin, Mary, in Indiana. Martha lived at Bethany Courtyards for several years before moving to Steuben Center after a decline in her health. Her care givers treated her like family, and she loved to joke with them. Martha is survived by family who love her, including her children Rick Vonderchek, Mike (Sharon) Vonderchek, and Kathi (Dan) Vonderchek Wisneski, her sister Carol (Chuck) Swink and her twin Mary (Frank) Covey, grandchildren Bryan (Angelica), Colin (Jenna), and Sarah Vonderchek, Jessica and Andrea Wisneski, and great grandchildren Olivia and Logan Vonderchek, Parker and Connor Vonderchek-Johnson, and Ellie Mae and Mason Wisneski. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Dick, and siblings Fran, Peggy, Lois, and John. Despite a difficult childhood and years of struggles with her health, Martha maintained her sweetness and her sense of humor. Martha's family was very grateful she had her special care givers who were there for her until the very end. Private services will take place at the convenience of the family. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Martha's name can do so to a charity of their choice. Words of Condolence and memories may be shared at www.lynchsfuneralhome.com . Arrangements are entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY.
