We are so saddened by the passing of this wonderful man who was truly loved by so many. He was always so supportive of anything his children were participating in. We watched several of his children play their sports with excellence and Ed taught some of them. I was privileged to have Pixie on my cheerleading squad. She was a spunky one. May his entire family remember all their wonderul memories made throughout their lifetime. May God give you HIS peace and grace at this time of grieving. Ed and Judie Merritt, Chattanooga TN Much love always.

I’m very sorry to hear about your loss. I was part of HHDS LL for many years and enjoyed so much all my conversations with him. When he moved to RI I missed him at our meetings. He had a very strong effect on Little league in HHDS.

I met Jim through my companion Perry Cronkrite, when Perry suggested I become Secretary of Horseheads Little League. Jim’s love of the sport and dedication to the player was inspiring. The countless board meetings I attended were always followed by the “meeting after the meeting” at Nick’s in the Square, where the topics discussed earlier that night would be further discussed over coffee. Jim’s passion for the game, and the young athletes he cared so much about, always meant that anyone he coached would learn and grow as a person, with a love and understanding of the game and good sportsmanship that would carry each player through life. Jim didn’t just teach baseball. He taught character, discipline, responsibility, fairness and teamwork. Jim, it was a privilege to know you and to call you my friend. I imagine you and Perry are still busy advocating those qualities of good sportsmanship at that “meeting after the meeting”, You will always be remembered and truly missed.

Just learning of Jim’s passing. My condolences and sympathies go out to Jim’s entire family. I’m sure there are heavy hearts in losing a truly great father and friend.
Jim was the epitome of a true gentleman and professional, who gave of himself his entire life. I had the privilege of knowing and working with Jim at Corning and SMOM CYO for many years.
Jim made the Houghton’s and Corning stockholders a lot of money over the years and should have been inducted into the Corning sales professionals Hall of Fame. I truly mean it when I say there was none better than Jim. If there was a Babe Ruth of Corning Sales professionals, it was Jim Cronin.
We all know the countless hours he gave to youth sports in the Horseheads area, and those who benefited from Jim’s tireless efforts dedicated to those organizations should be ever thankful.
I know I am a better person for having known and worked with Jim in my life and the positive influence he was on me.
He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my friend.
If anyone deserves a front seat in heaven it’s you Jim.
