Obituary of James Lawrence Burgio

BURGIO James L. Age 76 of Corning , NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday September 18 , 2011, at Corning Hospital . Jim was born November 3 , 1934 in Rochester , NY the son of the late James P. and Catherine Bacher Burgio. He married his wife , Norma Graus Burgio , on January 19 , 1957 and they would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on January 19 , 2012. Jim worked for Chase -Pitkins for many years and then RKB Supply in Elmira .He formed his own company JB Sales and Marketing and became an independent sales representative for hardware companies. Jim was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads where he served his parish faithfully as a Lector , Eucharistic Minister , and religious education instructor . He was a member and Past Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus Council # 6158 of Horseheads , NY. Jim was an avid outdoorsmans and enjoyed landscaping and working around his home . Jim and Norma enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of The Southern Tier Dance Group and The Aragon Dance Group . He was a member of The Big Flats American Legion Post. Jim loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Norma Graus Burgio ; his beloved children : Cindy Burgio of Rochester , NY , Steven & Sandra Burgio of Meshoppen , PA , Brian & Kelli Burgio of Houston , Texas , and Keith & Misty Burgio of Greer , SC ; 11 grandchildren ; sister and brother-in-law : Barbara & Claude Graves of Rochester , NY ; brother and sister-in-law : Robert & Judy Roberts Burgio of Columbia , MD ; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert & Mary Ann Graus and Joyce & Walter Karkos all of Rochester , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Wednesday September 21 , 2011 from 3-7 PM . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 22 , 2011 at 11 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street & Westinghouse Road Horseheads , NY . Interment in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads , NY .
