Obituary of Laura Marie VanHouten

Laura Wheet VanHouten, Age 57, passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2024 at Guthrie Corning Hospital after a five year battle with a chronic lung disease. Laura was born on July 14th, 1967 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of Marlene Wheet and the late Richard Wheet. She is survived by her husband Todd VanHouten, daughters Alyson (Kiel) Crane and Jillian Johnson (Allison Osburn), grandchildren Teagan and Beckett Crane, three siblings and many nieces and nephews. Laura was an accomplished bowler in the Southern Tier and a hair stylist known to many for over 38 years. Her clients turned into family and shared in the many life milestones of Laura and her family. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Kim Gunderman Scholarship at Thomas A. Edison High School. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and doctors at Guthrie Corning Hospital for their outstanding care over the last five years but especially in the last few weeks.
