Mary Lou was a shinning star , always upbeat, fun and super smart. I shared several classes with her throughout high school. My condolences to her family and prayers of comfort for all who she touched in their heart.

Mary Lou was a friend since the late 50's, last saw at a class reunion awhile back. She was a very caring, talented woman and a dedicated teacher, she will be missed by everyone who she touched over the years.

Mary Lou and I taught Special Education together for many years at Diven School. We were also good friends outside of school. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and planned and hosted a baby shower for my first child, my daughter, exactly 45 years ago! She was the most caring, compassionate, and conscientious teacher I ever was blessed to work beside. She taught herself how to crochet the most beautiful blankets! Mary Lou enjoyed being with her family and friends, but her greatest joy was being with her young students. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them! I ran into her at Maple Grove Cemetery a couple years ago when I was tending to the flowers at my grandparents site and she was doing the same nearby at her family's plot. It was so good to see her! Mary Lou was a beautiful friend who deeply and profoundly touched so many lives with her love, care, and gentle spirit!

When I was starting out as a teacher, I had the opportunity to sub and work with Mrs. Courtright. She was a gem. I learned about patience, and making each child feel special from her. She had an amazing way with children. May her memory be a blessing.

Mrs. Courtright taught my daughter Frances Plaisted while she was a student at Diven. Such a wonderful who told me she kept pictures of students under her lamp. Fran and I will always treasure her in our hearts. Mary Potter
