Obituary of Mary Lou Courtright

Mary Lou Courtright age 72 of Horseheads, NY passed away at home on November 28 , 2021. Mary Lou was born March 19, 1949 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Stephen W. and Florence Marsh Courtright. She was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1967 and received her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Cortland . Mary Lou was a dedicated Special Education Teacher at Diven School in Elmira, NY for many years . She was an advocate for many of her students and was very involved in Special Olympics . In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was pre-deceased by her father Stephen W. Courtright on April 21, 1961 , her mother Florence B. Marsh Courtright on January 15, 2010 , her sister Janice Childers in 2000, her brother Stephen Emmett Courtright on June 8, 2008, her sister Sandra L. Courtright on March 1, 2010 , and her sister Sharon L. Buck on November 6, 2016. She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them especially her students. Mary Lou is survived by her nieces and nephews Megan Buck McDermott, Erik & Michelle Buck , Edwin Childers Jr. , Robert & Michelle Childers, and Stephen L. & Marcy Courtright ; eleven grand nieces and grand nephews and one great grand nephew and 2 great grand nieces; several cousins and many friends. A Celebration of Mary Lou's Life will be held at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY at a time to be announced. Mary Lou will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery next to her parents and her sister Sandy and her brother Steve.
