Obituary of Frank Nasakaitis

Frank Nasakaitis, family man, lover of life, engineer, entrepreneur, and world traveler was relieved of his worldly bonds and joined his loving parents, siblings, spouses, and so many friends that have gone before him on Monday February 20, 2023. Frank was 93, born of Lithuanian immigrants, Pranas Antanas Nasakaitis and Ona "Anna" Jankauskaite Nasakaitis on July 6, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. Frank grew up on the Southside of Chicago and joined the US Naval Reserves while a senior in high school and was activated to duty on The USS Rochester at The Naval Yard in Philadelphia , PA. After his enlistment ended and a brief return to Chicago he returned to the military enlisting in The US Air Force. On November 1, 1952, Frank married his first wife Marianna Spink Nasakaitis in Clearwater Florida. Marianna predeceased him on March 27, 1987. Frank married his second wife, Geraldine Narsh Said Nasakaitis in Horseheads, New York on October 9, 1988. Geri predeceased him on November 24, 2014. Frank was also predeceased by his infant sons Mark and Joseph and his daughter-in-law Rosemary Nasakaitis on March 9, 2020 as well as three brothers and a sister, Stanley Nasakaitis, Walter Nasakaitis, John Peter Nasakaitis, and Ann Nasakaitis Butler. Frank is a veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country in the US Air Force for 23 years and achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant while earning his degree in electrical engineering. After retirement from military service in 1974, Frank and Marianna moved to Horseheads, Marianna's hometown where he was introduced to his second wife Geraldine. Frank also worked for Corning Inc as a Senior Electrical Engineer. Frank operated his security Company for many years after retirement. He was a communicant at St Mary's Church in Horseheads, NY. He was a long time member, treasurer and "Blood from a Stone" award recipient of the Horseheads Kiwanis Club. Frank is survived by his children: Frank W. (Judith) Nasakaitis of Elmira Heights, NY, Patricia (Jon) Breux of Elmira, NY, James (Emilia) Nasakaitis of Herndon, VA, Mary (Paul) Yoder of Horseheads, NY, John (Dawn) Nasakaitis of Horseheads, NY, Nancy (Chris) Zizzi of Yorktown, VA, Jill (Les) Lewis of Greenville, SC, Gwen (Ron) Moshier of Catlin, NY; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and caregivers. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Friday, February 24, 2023 from of 1 PM to 3 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. Frank's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Our Mother's Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY at 10 AM Saturday, February 25, 2023.
